David McDonald: Towards Greater Global Presence
OSI Group today boasts of global presence, which is a remarkable turnaround for a company with a long and proud history, local domination but very little global presence. One of the drivers of this remarkable turnaround is the company’s owner, president and chief operations officer: David McDonald.
David is a company veteran with over 30 years of working experience at the company. Following his graduation from Iowa State University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, he joined OSI Group LLC as a financial consultant before being appointed in various positions. He rose through the ranks of the company to its top most leader and owner.
During his tenure at the helm of the company, David McDonald has played a critical role in expanding the company’s operations to overseas territories. He has increased the company’s presence especially in Europe and China. Particularly in China, OSI Group has opened several units. The European operations have been expanded in countries such as Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom. This has been achieved through of strategically placed companies in the region including Baho Foods and its five subsidiaries.
In addition to serving as OSI Group’s president and chief operation officer, David McDonald also serves on its board of directors’ board. He is the current chairman of Northern American Meat Institute and independent director at Mafrig Global Foods S.A. He took over the position at OSI Group’s subsidiary in 2008. He serves as the director of OSI International Foods Pty Ltd, which is OSI Group’s Australian subsidiary. David MCDonald OSI Group served at OSI Industries as the OSI Group subsidiary’s project manager.
Localized Management with Global Outlook
The move by the Aurora, Illinois based company to expand into region such as China presented its management with the challenge of ensuring that the operations and management of the company’s overseas units mirrored the local culture. Under the leadership of David McDonald, OSI Group adopted an innovative and revolutionary management approach that ensured that the local communities felt a sense of connection with the company.
